iPhone unlocked Reply #1 – August 24, 2007, 11:28:23 PM Refurbished iPhones for $100 off MSRP:http://store.apple.comSo...being patient for two months can be rewarding. Or better yet, waiting until the day after Thanksgiving (US) when Apple runs major specials will probably net even greater savings. By that time the hacks will be widespread and cheaper. I'm biding my time...trust me... Quote Selected

iPhone unlocked Reply #3 – August 25, 2007, 02:07:53 AM QuoteDo you really think that 99 million is a legit bid? Maybe T-mobile and AT&T are in a bidding war? Doubtful, but hey, who knows? Quote Selected
iPhone unlocked Reply #4 – August 25, 2007, 02:35:47 AM the bids obviously are NOT real.Would you rather spend $40,000 on a phone or just switch to AT&T? Quote Selected

Some phones are "exclusive" to certain carriers, especially when new. Quote Selected
iPhone unlocked Reply #7 – August 25, 2007, 10:55:58 AM nevermind,,supid asses. Sim probably made in another country who could really care less about our little battles here in the US. SO,,, whom ever makes the sim has a slot design and wiring schematic interchangeable with various other phones. Iphone didnt take the time to design thier own sim? stupid. Quote Selected

Battery goes dead, you paid a buck for each song, you have to send it back to apple for about 275 bucks to get it fixed and you loose all your stuff. Quote Selected
iPhone unlocked Reply #9 – August 25, 2007, 11:49:41 AM They interviewed the kid on NPR, he has a website that tell all how to modify the iPhone. You need to solder like one wire on according to the kid (he's like 17). Oh, I clicked the link to the puppies fake new channel (Faux) link and the info is there. Quote Selected

Battery goes dead, you paid a buck for each song, you have to send it back to apple for about 275 bucks to get it fixed and you loose all your stuff. Not true at all. Believe what you want.My first iPod (20GB 2G) died of hard drive failure after a year. This was in 2003. Apple replaced it for $29, which included shipping. Never had an issue with the replaced iPod.My father has the same style iPod (10GB 2G) and is still uses it every single day. No issues whatsoever. His battery is getting tired, finally, after hundred of charging cycles, so I bought a $10 replacement battery that will take approximately 20 minutes to change out (I've done it before, very easy). It will also go longer between charges, and last about twice as long as the original battery.I've bought a new iPod on an average of every 18 months not out of necessity, but out of want. It's my only guilty pleasure. Every single one of my older iPods was eagerly purchased by friends.Apple charges $.99 US per song for locked .m4p files (which can be burned to a CD, then re-ripped from the CD in a multitude of unlocked formats). A good part of their 2 million+ music library is now being offered in $1.29 US DRM-free .mp3 files. It is up to each user, per the iTunes agreement (EULA) that EVERYONE should read before using, to back up their purchased files. If you don't, sucks to be you. That's life. You expect Apple to babysit your music collection? A bit unrealistic. And you know, that extends over to ALL of your files, not just music. Micro$oft is not your bitch, your are its bitch. Read your EULA.As for the iPhone, the whole "locked" thing pertains to AT&T's network offering services that the iPhone takes advantage of. It's simple as that. By unlocking the iPhone people have the choice (a LEGAL choice) to use that phone on another network. Some of those features, in particular the visual voice mail, won't be available on other networks. But if that's alright with people, then they now have a perfectly simple and legal choice. Apple and AT&T seem to be in bed with each other, and that's why AT&T got the exclusive rights to the iPhone for several years. However...never underestimate the power of resourceful customers. Eventually there will be a user-replaceable battery available. And services to do that replacement battery work for you. So no worries there. All of these perceived "problems"...they're a non-issue. In time all of this will smooth over. Happens every time. Quote Selected
iPhone unlocked Reply #12 – August 25, 2007, 01:10:21 PM I geuss until the buzz drops off on these ,they wont do it, but if you push hard enough most providers WILL sell you a phone unlocked. I have Verizon along with a contract. I use them for all my domestic service, but when I do extended overseas trips, I typically just buy a local sim card, slap it in, and use whatever is most prevalent there at much lower rates. I end up with T-Modile a lot , but have used others as well. Typically a lot lower rate than paying for Verizon international roaming. Bob Myers Quote Selected

iPhone unlocked Reply #14 – August 26, 2007, 12:12:42 PM There was is a company that has found a software unlock for the IPhone. They are getting muscled by the lawyers at ATT about copy right laws right now. These were supposed to be relased this month but now its on hold. Doing a hardware unlock is different than a software unlock according to the new laws that went into place concerning software pirarcy. Quote Selected
