The I'm a jerk thread

LMAO at the Bush stick poke pic. The facial expression makes it.
Personally I think we all need to use some judgement and restraint in what we outwardly tell each other about their cars/behaviors/whatever. Especially the behaviors. Things like "that spoiler looks like ass" "LOSE THE WHITEWALLS" "those wheels just dont go right" i think we can all handle, and have likely been told at one point. But when the recipients behavior or the nature of their posts is attacked that ALWAYS seems to cause fights, mainly debates about who-said-what, what was meant by those words (VERY stretchable, depends on the interpretation, etc etc)
I really DONT want to "take a side" in this "fight", and it really makes no difference, theres no score or kill count or any tabulation of "whos winning" but for what its worth I have to side with Aerobird, only because the cracks about "always calling it Layla" etc etc I think didnt need to be mentioned, at least not publicly. We ALL have mannerisms and habits and quirks and jingles and bells and whistles (and flaws too!) and we're not going to change each other.
LittleAngel--- you mention your right to speak your mind. 100% correct. Thats not what I think is the issue. Its whether X point in time is an appropriate time to say Y thing about Z subject. All Im saying is putting myself in Michael's shoes, Id feel a little peeved too if someone was questioning all of the little things I do (and emphasis on little). In the end its the big things that matter right? He, like every other owner of a 2.3T powered car, learns from his trials and tribulations, and passes on that knowledge. This is just MY opinion, but I think reporting about every little thing increases the chance that closer to 100%, to some degree, of the possible issues you could run into making that poor engine do way more than it was supposed to, will be ON THIS FORUM, stored on the database! So some new member may search for it and dig it up, or he could dig it up when the new guy asks about that problem.
He also has a running business for parts for these cars, as well as taking steps to rebirth the supply of wings/spoilers for these cars, which are in very rare supply. Im not saying everyone else here isnt worthy of praise because they arent manufacturing parts, but I think his efforts deserve some degree of praise, and thats what we should be scrutinizing (or looking at fondly--hopefully!!!), not a perhaps silly little "pet name" he has given his car. For the record Ill say Ive always thought it a little silly maybe even stupid myself, but I observed a lot of people doing it right after Gone In 60 Seconds with Nicolas Cage (LOVED that movie) came out, so in a way its sort of (or was, the movie is 7 years old) "in" or hip to call your car some woman's name (and yeah they all have to be girls names :D )
Yeah....I dont know why I typed all that, I guess I just feel like I gotta try and break up the fight cuz I dont want to see our brothers and sisters fighting!!!! I love this place because it is the polar opposite of a computer hardware overclocking/modifying forum I frequented when that was the love of my life, like 5 years ago, and as of late there are more 12-17 year olds on there than ever, and they almost always post STUPID immature threads, break the rules, defiantly at that, fight with mods and admins, and generally make asses of themselves and wonder (angrily and outwardly) why their thread got closed or they got temp-banned. There are some people there like us, much more mature, using their head when posting, and they hate the kids making the place a pain in the ass sometimes. I almost pray to God above that this place will never be like that. Though it has like FIFTY THOUSAND members, where we are a fraction of that size, and I think that is very helpful. I was there when it had but 8k members, and it was much more "cool" and laid back like FoxTbirdCougarForums.
Now to be fair......Mike, *&%^ what she thinks. EVERYBODY, *&%^ what EVERYONE ELSE thinks. Its YOUR car, YOU make it your own in any way you choose. Whether that be to deal with whitewalls that you get lazy with the Westleys and allow to not even be white but turn YELLOW from road grime, put a spoiler on that "looks like ass" to some, or experiment with un-power brakes and un-power steering (sorry shoe-man I had ta!!!).
These cars are definitely not the equivalent of a Duesenberg in the 1930s. Theyre not priceless treasures. Part of me hopes they wont be, so us, who "Liked it before it was cool" can always get cheap parts to keep em' rollin. But even when some rare pre-war Packards or even V-16 Cadillac 7-passenger cars of which 5 may be surviving, get hot-rodded, I always try to think "it could be rotting into the ground". Its a RUNNING DRIVING car!!!!
SOOOOO......maybe lets try to support each other in keeping some of these becoming-uncommon-on-the-road cars, running well, driving them so people do still see em and dont forget about em, and do whatever we gotta to keep each other keeping their Thundercat or Kittybird prowl-flying the street.
Well Im tired gonna watch dukes of hazzard on CMT if its on tonight then hit the hay.
