escorts.. Reply #4 – July 24, 2007, 06:05:00 PM yeh i figured those cosworths where a whole different animal. i mean i havnt KNOWN an escort to be RWD but cosworth was building shelby dream it seems. if i were to import a vintage car... it would have to be datsun 510 rhd with a 2 or more rotory.to me, jdm spec hatchi 86 with 3 rotor would put any car away. p/w ratios like a sportbike. road spec race car :D Quote Selected

I'm confused. Datsun 510s came with a 1.6L and later 1.8L four cyl. Are you going to swap a Mazda engine into it? Quote Selected

Not 100% certain, but I'm thinking that the turbocharged versions of the 2.3 had lower compression than the N/A version. I know (from experience) that the 2.2 turbo Dodges are absolute dogs when the turbo is taken out of the picture (or, in my personal case, the turbo outlet hose blows off because somebody forgot to tighten the clamps holding it on) Quote Selected
escorts.. Reply #9 – July 24, 2007, 09:25:29 PM Total dogs. I drove my N/A for a while, and id have to floor it to get up to the speed limit. Quote Selected

escorts.. Reply #14 – July 25, 2007, 01:00:57 AM My grandparents had an '84 base and I mean base model Escort when I was little. I had the base engine, crank windows, a heater, and an AM radio. That was it. It was also a two door. Worst car ever. It always broke down and it rattled and buzzed like you wouldn't believe. I'd never want one of those, even if one could be found now. They bought it as a put-put car for around town. They also had a fully loaded '80 Olds 88 Royal for trips and *fancy* outings. The Olds was a much, much, much nicer car. Quote Selected
