Replaced King Cobra, now short on adjustment

I just got my old Kind Cobra Clutch out and my new King Cobra Clutch in. But for some reason, with only about 1-2 threads left showing (on the front side of the fork) my clutch BARELY engages enough to move the car! So, I basically have the exact same setup but now it's way messed up. The cable is on the quadrant fine... here's the setup:

89 'stang pedal assembly, Summint brand adjustable cable and single hook quadrant (no firewall adjuster), new King Cobra Clutch, new stock replacement fork...

For the record, with my worn King Cobra in, I was almost at the end of the adjusting threads as well, but not quite this far. Now I'm left with LESS threads left, and a pedal that engages WAY high. So, the only thing I can imagine is that my cable stretched. What are your thoughts?

Super stretched clutch cable? Is there some kind of spacer for the throwout bearing?

Ok, I think figured out where the extra length came from:

When I put my 'stang pedal assembly in I found out that it was damaged (or so we thought). The pedal would stop about 1 - 1.5" from the top of it's travel. This made my clutch travel quite short and made getting the clutch adjustment dialed in just right but it worked. Well now, for some reason or another, the 2nd King Cobra clutch I put in had enough strength to pop that pedal to the top (previously only done with my foot - to get the cruise to work). So I'm thinking this extra travel is throwing things off.

It seems a firewall adjuster would by my solution, but I've heard mixed opinions and experiences with them. So once again, what does everyone think? Thanks

PS: that pedal assembly wasn't damaged. Todays inspection revealed the quadrant was rubbing a light, plastic covering on the underside of the dash at the end of clutch travel. A few cycles of the clutch has it "broken-in" and working much more smoothly...

Hey Cougar: good thought, but to be safe, I ensured that ALL replacement parts were indeed replacements with same measurements before installing...

I got the BBK firewall adjuster it works great. You will need to change the brake booster if you have a tbird/cougar giant one. The stang one is like 4-5 incles smaller in diameter. It worked out for me cause my brake booster was just about dead so I needed one anyway.

Those cables are junk. Adjust it all the way in, and use a firewall adjuster to get the clutch action you need.

oh man, no way. I used to roll with a huge fox stang crowd I'm the midwest and after using pretty much everything, it was pretty universal that the summit brand cable was the best! Crazy, but idk, I've had mine for 7 years and I LOVE it. Oh, and upr stuff is the worst.

As for the booster, I swapped the abs hydro unit out last spring when I did my cobra fronts, but either way I have plenty of clearance (using fox stang booster now).
