5 lug mod on Stang rear .....

Got a question,what axles and brake parts will I need to swap 5 lug on a Stang rear?I MAY go 5 lug in the rear so I can install 10.5 Cobra R wheels on the back,then,as time and money allow,I'll do a 5 lug swap on the front.I can wait for the front,my 9 inch Cobra wheels are new,and even though the 10.5's would be 5 lug,they would match well enough until I get to the front.

Second question,will a 10.5 inch 5 lug Cobra R wheel fit under the rear of the '88 Sport with a Stang rear and using Stang axles?

incorrect, he would need the longer ones on the driver side, or pass side on an aerostar.

Thanks.So,will the 4 cyl. Ranger front rotors convert our cars to five lug up front?I'm unsure how our rotors compare to 4 cyl. Stangs.

When I converted my front disc's to five lug, I ground the old studs down and drilled (5) new holes and installed the new studs. Easy if you have a bridgeport I guess, but I didn't have to convert brakes or anything.

Also, I've heard on a bunch of fox mustang forums, the SN95 axles and brakes will work in the rear.  That with the fox mustang rear w/ the SN95 axles will make the rear 3/4" wider on each side.  The same as what the Cougar/T-bird is stock:)

Exactly.. if you use a Fox mustang rear or a Turbo coupe rear or an early 7.5..

Well it would be a 7.5, That actually the exact rear I have in my 88 cougar.. They came with 3.45 gears and a traction lock so not a bad rear.. especially for a 3.8 car.  Only problem is some 85 rears are the wider rear and some are the narrow rear.. you need the earlier narrower rear.  Usually you can tell by the drums it has.

You will have to measure that '85 7.5 rear housing to be certain.  It MAY be the wider one.  Vinnie ran into that recently. 

I want to say that the changeover came in 85.5 when they upgraded the engine (injectors/ECU), but Vinnie didn't have the info on the car.

Wonder if thats when they went to the Hydraulic motor mounts?  Or did the earlier cars come with the same fluid filled mounts?
