tbird is doing 10MPG HELP!!!!! Reply #17 – June 09, 2007, 07:15:53 PM 3 ways for you1.There is a way to self test in the link that jcassity posted. It's section 5 on his index.2.You can purchase a scan tool at parts stores for around $30 that all you do is follow the instructions in the book and count the blinks. 3.Also AutoZone does a free code scan that you can just go up to the counter and ask them to scan your car for you. tbird is doing 10MPG HELP!!!!! Reply #19 – June 15, 2007, 04:27:52 PM You can also just turn the key on. Take a long screwdriver, or pipe, and place it on each injector, ( to the best of your ability ) and listen for the fuel,Or get a fuel pressure gauge, and turn the key on and see if your fuel pressure drops drasticly within the first 30 Seconds of turn off the key Quote Selected
tbird is doing 10MPG HELP!!!!! Reply #20 – August 11, 2007, 01:49:07 PM Something I haven't seen mentioned yet. It could very well be a leaking Fuel Pressure Regulator. Easy enough to check. On the fuel rail for the injectors, you'll find a piece with a vacuum line attached. Turn the key on and off several times to get it up to max fuel pressure, then go pull the vacuum line off and check to see if raw fuel is at that connection. There should be nothing but AIR there. If there is fuel coming out the nipple on the regulator, or a strong smell of fuel, chances are the diaphram in the regulator is punctured, and it's dumping fuel straight into the intake. Notice any black smoke or stutter at low RPM? Your favorite Autozone or Advance store will have the regulator. Quote Selected
