The "Stinkin Lincoln" is being striped!!! Reply #226 – March 24, 2008, 09:46:16 PM thing leaked like CRAZY and i could never figure it out, until i pulled up the seam sealer and my god!Next is a quicky repair on the driver side rear quarter, then gonna spray from the trim down all the way around the car with undercoat. Then i need to find new front fenders and a trunk lid!I wish there was a better way to fix it, but this only cost me 12 bucks, and it seems like it will stop all the leaking i had. Good enough for me! Quote Selected

The "Stinkin Lincoln" is being striped!!! Reply #229 – March 24, 2008, 10:20:57 PM my trunk looked just like that about 10 years ago.rebuilt it with galvanized metal. I'll shoot some pics tomorrow of how I repaired itIf you were just going to undercoat the bottom half of your car, just get some foam insulation in a can.fill the hole, form it and undercoat it.foil tape and bondo has a 101 uses too.be creative if your just trying to stop the leaks Quote Selected
The "Stinkin Lincoln" is being striped!!! Reply #230 – March 24, 2008, 11:13:41 PM Well the undercoat will look good, black on blue, and will cover all my repairs. Idk what Im gonna do with the trunk. Might repair but because the rust is going through I might not. Im picky when it comes to how things look.As far as fixing the hole, gonna either rivet some metal in, or get some mesh. Nothing insane, but I dont want to HACK HACK it. Quote Selected
The "Stinkin Lincoln" is being striped!!! Reply #231 – March 26, 2008, 09:54:19 PM Well I bought some metal tape stuff, and fixed all the holes on the drivers side, cept for the front fender, sprayed undercoating on the lower part to looks awesome!! Cant wait to get the trim back on! Need to take a better pic tomorrow this is just the patch. Not great but better then nothing!Found another hole under bondo on the car fixed it too. All and all it was a nasty day! Got the inner wheel tub out of the front on the drivers side, sanded it all down inside, rust proofed and undercoated. So that looks great too! Quote Selected

The "Stinkin Lincoln" is being striped!!! Reply #233 – March 26, 2008, 10:40:46 PM you should see the inside of the trunk were I patched today.... Cardboard and LOTS of silicone. Works, and its sealed from the outside, and inside. Next is fixing front fender (gonna make a frame out of flat bar, cover with metal tape), then passenger side, and finally trunk lid. Then there we be NO more holes! Quote Selected

The "Stinkin Lincoln" is being striped!!! Reply #235 – March 26, 2008, 10:52:55 PM I really hate to do it this way, But it covers the holes, and looks OK. Just enough to keep together, seal the water out, and pass inspection. They assholes about rot holes.... I already undercoated over the silicone and cardboard patch. I only used the card board to keep the silicone up in the air till it dried. Im sure it wont last for ever, but i didnt intend it to!!The front fender i was gonna do a sheet metal patch but its such an odd shape, im gonna take some flat bar i got for exhaust hangers, and build the edge of the fender, then cover it, and put something behind it for strength.
