1988 Cougar LS; Winterized 23/12/07 Reply #15 – May 23, 2007, 01:24:48 PM They most likly squeal because they are old and hard and cannot get traction.Burnouts are cool and all, but a softer or stickier tire will bark/squeal/roast less than a hard compound will.Take a dremel to that wheel-well and take it down to the bare metal. Primer, POR-15, and then paint. wet sand after each coat. It will come out nice! Quote Selected
1988 Cougar LS; Winterized 23/12/07 Reply #16 – May 23, 2007, 05:50:14 PM Yeah the harder the tire the louder the bark :D I had snow tires on my 83 when I got it. It would just scream through a stop light raising all kinds of hell.. then I switched to a softer compound and now its hardly a chirp. Quote Selected

If you search enough you can even find the Cougar center caps like are on mine. I'm running BF Goodrich 235/60's on mine which help give it a wide stance. I kept mine the standard silver color that most turbines come in.So thats what my car would look like without rust and scratches! Thanks for the info I'll get lookin'. But my next mod is removing the catalytic converter and getting a piece of pipe in there. Quote Selected
1988 Cougar LS; Winterized 23/12/07 Reply #18 – May 24, 2007, 03:14:01 PM I wanted to do a cheap exterior mod so I did the tails. I'll clear the corners next, then buy a cover, then black out the rears. All in due time.Gettin' em clean.Final result:I'm going right now to buy a left lens due to it being chipped. I'll also try to find a non yellowed front drivers corner. Quote Selected

1988 Cougar LS; Winterized 23/12/07 Reply #24 – July 06, 2007, 01:48:44 AM Okay so I just got a job with a Ford dealership working in the autobody shop. It seems I'm going to paint the car before the HO upgrades. What color should I get it in? I love black cars, but I kind of like this dark blue, its not really rare or anything but it kind of stands out. Another scheme I was thinking about is two tone black and silver, black on bottom silver top.So what do you guys think? Quote Selected

Black and silver on the outside would look great but not so great with a blue interior.Do a dark metallic blue and clearcoat the hell out of it. Quote Selected
