Not nessesarily. There's nothing that says you have to disclose that you ever had an insect problem. The reason I know that is because that was a big worry for me when I sold my last house. Thankfully there was NO paper in the mountain of forms I had to sign or initial where I had to certify that to the best of my knowlege my house was "bug" free.

Every property transaction within NYS has some type of inspection.  I had one done before I went to contract.  There is minimal damage right now,  They just recently found a way in.  The main colony is not even on my property.  The chemical being used will be brought back to the colony and shared with all members.  Ths chemical causes the termite to not moult; or shed it's skin.  In doing so they eventually die.  Average time for colony extinction: roughly 6 months.

As far as property value, I'm not worried.  The house is already worth enough that if I had to buy it at Today's market value, I would not be able to.  The average home price in my immediate area has gone up over 100K since September of 2004.

Oh and we get those  Cicadas too!

Paul-
I had the same issue last spring.  I was sitting in my living room not long after the ex moved out and I "heard" something behind me.
I started looking arond the big window in the living room and poked my finger through the inside sill...it was swarming w/ termites.  Terminix was there shortly thereafter with the same treatment you got.  Too bad I didn't get to hear the little suckers *pop*.

After doing some digging around, there was some old damage in about the same location in the basp00get, but until that instance, I had never seen any.  Nothing was ever mentioned to me either about the previous problems.

I still need to fix the sill and the wall just below it (plaster pulled off when I yanked the infested wood out of there)...just one more thing on the list to do.

That's the same type stuff they used to get rid of my carpenter ants. They drilled holes in my siding and injected it inside for the first application and then I had the house treated every month the rest of the time I lived there. It worked great because I never saw another carpenter ant near the house even during the "swarming" season.

Unfortunately, I dont think the prior owners of the house ever had it treated so in my case there was plenty of damage I never knew about.

Good luck!
