F@*k! April 17, 2007, 01:49:42 PM Well, i'm sitting with the baby in the living room and I notice something in th kitchen out of the corner of my eye. **TERMITE SWARM**Yup, 2 1/2 years in the house, no signs of them before. Had the house inspected when I moved in. Nothing Every 3 months I have the exterminator spray outside for ants. He checks for termites every time too. The wife had to come home from work to gimme a hand and get the baby out of the house. Quote Selected

F@*k! Reply #3 – April 17, 2007, 05:58:10 PM I know how you feel. I have swarms every couple of years and have to have it retreated. An exterminator friend told me due to EPA regulations, the chemicals they can use break down every couple of years, as compared to what they used years ago, only requireing one treatment. I am currently remodeling and coming accross damage. It really does suck. Quote Selected
F@*k! Reply #4 – April 17, 2007, 06:10:20 PM See, living in eastern Canada doesn't TOTALLY suck - we don't have termites :D Quote Selected
F@*k! Reply #5 – April 17, 2007, 08:43:21 PM I feel your pain! When I lived near Seattle we had carpenter ants. They ate one wall so completely that all that was left was a potato chip thin coat of paint. I didn't even know about the wall till the day before we were moving out and I accedentally poked my thumb through it... Talk about stress!Anyway, the 3 years we lived there I had the house sprayed every month but the damage had already been done. Quote Selected

F@*k! Reply #11 – April 18, 2007, 01:06:09 AM I'm sure he appreciates the emotional boost, stuntman. That sucks, though...we normally just get a ton of lady bugs in early spring and thats it. We've already had a few large bees get in the house though, which has me a bit worried....that rarely happens. Quote Selected
F@*k! Reply #12 – April 18, 2007, 02:05:28 AM Thanks to the Great Chicago Fire all houses in the city have to be built out of brick so no termites. We don't have any however. Atleast you don't have to deal with millions of these this summer:hick: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://chicagowildernessmag.org/issues/fall2003/images/cicada2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://chicagowildernessmag.org/issues/fall2003/news/cicadas.html&h=311&w=217&sz=19&tbnid=rATkHySz02m8wM:&tbnh=117&tbnw=82&hl=en&start=4&prev=/images%3Fq%3D2007%2Billinois%2B17%2Byear%2Bcicadas%2B%26gbv%3D1%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DG Quote Selected

F@*k! Reply #14 – April 18, 2007, 07:16:21 AM Quote from: stuntmannick;140934Property value just took quite a dump. Not nessesarily. There's nothing that says you have to disclose that you ever had an insect problem. The reason I know that is because that was a big worry for me when I sold my last house. Thankfully there was NO paper in the mountain of forms I had to sign or initial where I had to certify that to the best of my knowlege my house was "bug" free.It sounds shiznitty but if the buyers dont discover anything in thier inspection I wouldn't mention it.
