Show off your Art Work!

Got a little bored waiting for this movie to download so I started going through my files. I found some of my old artwork and I'd though I would share. Not sure where thread this belongs in though. :dunno:

I used to do a lot of drawing, to the point I even drew a 100-page comic book in grade 11 featuring my own character "Sam the Shark" (who lends his name to Sam's Fox Thundercats, for those of you who wonder where the "Sam" came from). I used to draw with a pencil, then when i got my first computer with an honest-to-goodness colour screen I started drawing on that using Microsoft Paintbrush (this was pre-Windows). I lost interest several years ago, though, and outside of making images for my website I haven't really done anything since the mid 90's. I've still to this day never used Photoshop. Way too complicated for me.

Some examples done in pencil:

This one was done in 1991, then scanned and put on my (Geocities hosted) website in 1997:

This one was done during Chemistry class in 1991-ish. I was looking at a poster on the wall (don't even ask about my Chemistry grades). I have always liked how the plane turned out, but hate the mountains in the background:

In grade 11 I sold my Firebird and bought my first Thunderbird. Naturally my mind immediately started dreaming up plans to modify it (and dreams they were - aside from rims & stereo that car remained 100% stock). Some of the dreams got pretty silly:

Toward the early-mid 90's (93-ish) I decided to start adding colour to my drawings. This one was taken off a CarToons magazine - it had Krass & Bernie (the guys in my sig) hanging off the Mustang while Santa was driving it, but I cleaned it up in my drawing (and made Santa look "jollier"). I was more interested in the car. As you can see, the steering mechanism was added as an afterthought (and ruined the drawing, IMO):

My discovery of colour also coincided with the popularity of Ren and Stimpy, so a tribute was in order (never did finish colouring it):

I think I've only ever scanned one of my "comic book" drawings, this one a series based on my teenage years called Wild Nights, Hot & Crazy Days. That's me driving the boat. The "Goofy Newfie" riding shotgun would be my (now deceased) friend Rodney Squires, and the guy on the raft would be another friend, Dale Burke:

As mentioned above, I also did quite a bit of drawing on the computer. Most of the drawings were saved on floppies, then burned onto a CDR of which the location is a mystery, but a few survived:

One of the earliest, a customized Ranger GT. I had started shading it but got lazy after doing the glass:

Wanting to do something a little more complicated I decided to try the Judas Priest "Screaming for Vengeance" album cover. This was a huge undertaking. I drew this one pixel at a time using Paintbrush and having 16 colours to choose from. It took a full two weeks of evenings and weekends (I was still in high school) to finish:

I eventually got something a bit more powerful graphics-wise and had an incredible 16.7 million colours to choose from (fully one million more colours than I was used to). I celebrated by trying some shading with a silly idea (not much shading, though - just in the wheels). It was kind of a rush job:

Having satisfied myself with shading (I still had to mix the colours as Win 3.1 paint didn't have a pallet to choose from, so the fading still isn't perfect) I decided another Judas Priest album cover was in order. This is from Hero Hero:

By this time another tribute was in order. This time it was Berke Breathed's Bloom County comic:

Since then I've only made a few animated gifs and images for my website. Probably the best of these are my line art drawings for people wanting to experiment with colours & stuff without actually touching their car:

Some day I will scan all of my paper drawings into the computer...

Nice work guys.

I hated painting in high school and sucked badly at it but really enjoyed it in college. I have soo much stuff majoring in art and all, maybe I'll post a couple things.
