I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Lots. Got my driver's license in 1989, and since then I have owned:
  • 1978 Trans Am (Lt1 350 from '70 Camaro, TH350 trans) I loved that car ($600)
  • 1977 Buick Skylark (305/TH350) ($free, traded it for some mechanical work)
  • 1966 Galaxie 500 4-door (390 4bbl, C6) Loved it too but couldn't afford to fuel it (high school plus gulf war = unaffordable gas) ($3500)
  • 1980 Firebird Formula (301, TH350) Nice car, py engine ($800)
  • 1984 Hyundai Pony (for you Americans who don't know what one is, think "Korean Chevette" but without all of the polish and quality of the Chevette) ($400)
  • 1985 Topaz (4-door, 5-speed) ($1200)
  • 1985 Thunderbird (3.8 2-bbl, C5) My first fox 'Bird (traded it in for the '91 T-Bird below) ($1500)
  • 1985 Hyundai Stellar (A Pony with a trunk) ($250)
  • 1987 Nissan Sentra XE Coupe ($250)
  • 1991 T-Bird (3.8 AOD) (first car I ever made payments on, second biggest POS I'd ever owned, up until the 2000 Volvo mentioned below) ($8900)
  • 1983 Chevy C10 Scottsdale 1/2 ton (305, 3-on-the-tree) ($500)
  • 1990 Nissan King Cab 4X2 (4-cyl, 5-speed) ($1500)
  • 1985 Volvo 740 ($500)
  • 1988 Cougar LS (5.0 AOD) (wrecked it in a tangle with an 18-wheeler) ($800)
  • 1987 Cherokee 4X4 (4cyl auto, two-door) ($1500)
  • 1982 Toyota 4X4 truck ("Bog Hog") ($free, got it from my father in a trade)
  • 1990 Nissan King Cab (again) ($free, got it from my father. I traded the Cherokee above for this and the Toyota )
  • 1984 Honda CB450SC Nighthawk motorcycle ($800)
  • 1995 Hyundai Accent 2-door 5-speed
  • 1987 T-Bird Sport (5.0 AOD) (my favourite of all my 'Birds but it rusted away) ($1500)

    • 1997 Nissan Maxima (Bought for $400 needing a trans, replaced trans, drove for a year, sold for $3500)
    • 1996 Jeep Cherokee 2-door 4X4 4.0/5-speed (Bought for $800 with a rotten floor, welded a new floor in, replaced the axles with 3.55 gears/dana 44, added many options including A/C, power windows & locks, etc, then sold for $3500)
    • 1999 GMC Sonoma 4X4 (bought for $800, drove for a year, sold for $800, the guy that bought it called me six months later to tell me his 16 year old son blew the engine by driving off road and tearing an oil cooler line off, then driving home)
    • 1997 Saturn SL2 5-speed (Bought for $1000, traded in on the next car)
    • 2005 Chrysler 300 Limited (Bought for $10,500 taxes in after a marathon savings session, lived like a pauper but saved the $$ in four months, still own, car is all pimped out including 20" wheels, custom headlights, grille and tail lights, tinted windows, will probably be selling it in spring to finance a classic car)

    • 1999 Toyota Camry, bought for $400 the day I wrecked the Jetta, sold the same day for $2500
    • 2011 Hyundai Sonata 6-speed, bought on a whim after wrecking the Jetta, used the $2100 profit from the Camry for a down payment. Regretting it ever since. Nothing wrong with the car, in fact I really like it and would recommend one to anyone, but I hate having a car payment. At least it's 0% financing...
    • 2003 Dodge Dakota 4X4 3.9 Club Cab ($5000, still own for doing truck stuff)[/color]
    RED ENTRIES ADDED NOVEMBER 2012
BOLD ENTRIES T-BIRD/COUGAR RELATED BLUE ENTRIES ARE VEHICLES I STILL OWN

    Off-road vehicles:
    • 1977 SkiRoule 340 ($300) Later swapped in a 440 because parts were unavailable for the Sachs 340 engine, then somebody stole the 440 engine right out from under the hood, a month later the whole sled disappeared
    • 1973 Arctic Cat Cheetah 440 ($1000) This sled was show-worthy, in pristine condition, but never, ever ran right. Once suffered serious engine damage after sucking a mouse into the carburetor. Rebuilt the engine, still didn't run right...
    • 1972 Skidoo 399 Olympique 399CC
    • 1972 Skidoo 399 Olympique 399CC (yes, I had two. Bought 'em both and a trailer for $800, were the most dependable, reliable sleds I've ever owned, but were also slow and boring)
    • 1997 Skidoo Formula Triple 600CC ($2500)
    • 1979 Skidoo Everest 440 ($free, my uncle gave it to me with a seized engine, freed it up and used it for three years)
    • 1987 Honda TRX350 Fourtrax 4X4 ATV ($1000, bought in 2005, rode the hell out of it until the frame finally broke last year, just sold it for parts for $600)
    • 1996 Kawasaki KVF400 (Bought for $2000, rode it a few times, broke it every time I rode it, sold it for $2000)
    • 2004 Arctic Cat 400 4X4 FIS automatic ($2000, still own, used mainly to plow driveway)
    • 1995 Yamaha VMax 600 ($1200, the nicest sled I've ever owned, fully loaded with electric start, reverse, 2up seat, heated everything, still own, but will be selling this winter because gas is too expensive and I can't justifying spending $150 for a weekend of sledding)
    • 2000 Honda XR250R dirt bike, sold after a tail bone injury made it impossible to ride it.

I think that's the lot in relative order
