That's great that you were able to find an old timer that was willing to let you learn from him! They're very difficult to find these days. I'm willing to do the same thing except that I don't have a body shop, just doing my own stuff out of my garage. I love doing body/paint but not so muuch working for someone where I have to do things to cut corners, time, maybe, but not quality.
I have a friend that's building a very custom V8 Ranger, suicide doors, chopped and raked top and other things as well. I tried to help him when he asked for it, but all he wanted to do was short cut EVERYTHING :( Not my style. Enough of my rambling.
Please post some pics of your car that you painted :D
