Today... the fun begins.
After not having my car at CJ for the 2ed year in a row, I am motovated to finally kick ass and get moving. By the end of the day I hope to have the waterpump and all accesorys back on. I'm finally changing my blets to all serpintine and I might take off the PS all together. Also going to finish cleaning underhood and who knows what else. Pics later tonight when I actually get stuff done

It's about 84 here. Nice wam, suny spring day. I got th eold smog pump totally off, all the brackets cleaned up, alt  racket re-mounted and the steel brackets re-painted. My speedbump at the momtent is I can make it a cleaner and better looking install if I ditch the power sterring. I can totally leave off 2 big steel brackets. BUT I'll have manual sterring. I think I might, I duno. Cold drink break to think about it

Running with manual steering is alright with a manual rack. Not with a power rack without a pump running. Why not clean up the whole engine bay. Then you don't have to worry about the PS pump and bracket looking nasty. GO to the car was or rent/barrow a pressure washer. Get some super clean take out the battery and cover things you don't want to get wet with foil. Then spray on the super clean and let it soak for about 5-10 min. Then go to town with the pressure washer. Keep don't directly hose things like the alternator and carb/air cleaner. That should get most of the Gunk off of it. Then you take some towels you don't care about and use some more of the super clean to get the last little bit of  off. Then hose it off with water again. That should really make it look nice and clean. Don't forget the super clean straight on the rag and you can clean the wires off and make them look almost new. Some make sure to get all the wire loom and all the little nooks.

I'll bet you'll regret getting rid of the power steering. If you want clean appearing, get the a/c eliminator kit and a Stang steering pump bracket.Very clean and functional.

I talked to Tbird232ci about it, and he said it can be done. I'm looking for a manual rack to replace the power rack with. He said that it will be more " intresting" to drive, but eaiser because I don't have a sport rack. It's still up in the air. As far as cleaning under hood, I will later when it cools off some more. I need to find a standard rotation water pump pully for a serp belt.  I found one on a crown vic' I'm going to try

Its not too bad, without the PS.  I ran my '85 for a full year with it removed on the stock rack.  but i was amazed at how nice it felt again to have the ps when I reconnected it.

Ps is removed. I bled as much as I could out of the lines. Zip tied them out of the way for now. Pump is safe in my room with the rest of my stash. As of now the Alt bracket, alt, water pump, timing cover, carnk pully, and new timing chain is on. I'm not done for the day, just taking another break

:beatyoass: I've driven the Vic' without it when it leaked BAD. Not impossable but sure as hell hard. My car would HAVE to be eaiser then that. It's off for a while till I can get a feel for it without it on the road. I can always put it back on, it's not like i chopped all the lines or anything:hick:

Before you try acetone and paint thinner, get a gallon of deisel fuel and try that. you'll be surprised how well it removes bugs, tree sap, tar, road film... And it won't destroy your paint.

EDIT: NO SMOKING!!!!

Do you think this will be done by the next Cat Jam? As I am going to set time aside(try to anyways) now to plan for it. I would love to see this "fila" in person. By the way, keep up the good work, and you won't be disapointed in the outcome.
