your carb bowl is empty probably,,, dont forget to pump the pedal to start.  The pump on the carb likes that a little:hick:

yeah,, if you spray gas in there it should atleast hit.  check spark like you said.

So how do you "prime" the carb? Just turn the key, let the gas soak/fill the carb, then pump it a few times and turn it over? I'm about to check all the wiring and conections. Does the Duraspark have to be grounded to produce spark? And can it start without the V. adavance hooked up?

theres something in the carb called an "accelerator pump" that shoots a little gush of fuel in when you hit the gas. so if theres none, you can pump it a few times (good and fast) and itll prime it, like pushing the primer ball on a lawnmower.
 
you could also spray starter fluid/carb cleaner/wd-40/bug spray something burnable :hick: in the carb, have someone crank it over, once it fires, continue spraying for a few seconds, stop, and see if it goes on its own. if not spray some more. if it wont run without you spraying theres a fuel delivery problem. but usually you only need like 3 seconds worth of it running on whatever youre spraying in there and then its fine.

It's a double pumper, so pumping is needed. My question is how fast will it fill with gas? And i'm not as much sure as it's a fuel problem as a spark right now.

Carb cleaner and WD-40 aren't flammable enough to kick the car over.  Use starting fluid if you use anything.

well all i know is you work with what you got in a pinch and the only time i had to use wd was with my snowblower and it was all i had. helluva smoke cloud but she fired right up :hick:
 
started the 38 buick with OFF! bugspray once cuz i was too lazy to walk over to the shelf unit on the other side of the garage that had carb cleaner. :hick: :rollin:  no im not kidding about any of that. the bug stuff was closer and im  lazy sometimes. awful...

I welcomed the dark side and currently am driving a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT plus, with a 5.9, Code named project "Night Runner"
Shes black on black, fully loaded, with headers, 180 tstat, e fan, straight exhaust into a cherry bomb vortex ler, full tune up, ported intake and T/B, MSD coil, and round aircleaner.
Mods to come: Fully rebuilt and heavily modded 46RE, and a richmond rachet locker.

Lighting shiznit/blowing stuff up is one thing. Starting the car is another. Carb cleaner/paint cans/bug spray is better for flamethrowers IMO

u make due with what u have, i saw a guy once, drive his jeep across a finish line with his friend under the hood spraying crab cleaner straight in, cause his fuel pump failed.

It's not a matter of if bro, it's when. I still have everything to go back to CFI if it doesn't work. And I have access to more then one working carb. It's just how much money I wana sink in and how badly I want it. Right now I want it done, but not enough to work in a below freezing garrage.
