Am I right about the H.O swap on my 83? October 02, 2006, 03:02:14 PM Ok I guess I'll need the E7's, and intake and injectors yada yada. I've got an 86 SEFI harness that actually wont' be bad at all to make work. I'v got stock headers and an aftermarket h pipe. I'm still working on the catback. Now for a cam.. Since this isn't a roller block.. I'll need to get a 351 cam right? Like I open my jegs book and look for "351 cam fits 7(?) to 8(?)" and not the roller years? I'm going to use the stock front accessory brackets as they do just fine. Fuel lines.. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Quote Selected
Am I right about the H.O swap on my 83? Reply #1 – October 02, 2006, 03:17:54 PM Technically Claude, you don't need E7's. If you pick up a set of nice E4's, those will flow pretty well also. Any good flowing small block Ford head will be better than E6's, but some older heads are just fine for the HO conversion. For the cam...yes, the old 351W firing order is correct. As long as it's 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 the computer doesn't care if it's roller or not LOL.A good trick for the air cleaner: use the stock air tube with an open-air K&N (and shield if possible). That way you don't have to cut a hole in the apr0n for the air cleaner box. Unless you have a pair of air snips or a plasma cutter, in which case I say "Go to town.". :) Quote Selected
