Hardened Aux staft with stock gear Reply #2 – September 01, 2006, 04:37:19 PM Can I stick a stock distributor in an engine with a hardened intermediate shaft and have no problems? The current distributor has a bronze gear, the one I want to put in does not (it's an OEM unit).Nick Quote Selected

Hardened Aux staft with stock gear Reply #4 – September 02, 2006, 12:06:46 AM The hardened shaft gear will eat the stock cast iron unit. It will also eat the bronze gear, but it will last 25-30K mi. You may get 6-8K mi out of the cast gear... All assumes a reasonable oil pressure(no more than about 60 psi), higher pressures will speed the wear... Quote Selected
