My eventful Trip up and back from CatJam this year

Trip up to CatJam:

1.5 hours into the trip, we stopped at a rest stop just north of Columbus. After a short rest, neither car would start, and with no warnings of issues on either car. After deciding to let the 88' rest, it finally started up, and found out why it was having trouble on the way back.

After trying to jump the 86', my baby said she thought it was the starter, so I finaly realized she was right, and while trying to kick start the car, got a little help from a guy at the rest stop. Sometimes forget how heavy these cars are.......whew! Thank all of you that helped me kick start the car this year :-)

Thanks 83Heritage for helping us to get into to the area with no issues this year also

Trip back from Catjam:

We were following 5.8fastcat, and Derrick wayne, when Mr. Fast Cat had an exciting, and yet scarry event take place early on our trip back......but I will save it for him to tell. All I can say about it is, WOW, and THANK GOD.

After a little excitement, Mr. Fastcat decided to stop for gas, thank God. I was behind my 88' pulling into the gas station, when I noticed what looked like a bit of smoke, maybe a little oil on the exhaust...hmm, so I thought. Before I could get over to the car, Derik had her open the hood, and the Alternator caught on fire.......AHHHHH!!!, thankfully he thought quickly and put it out with windshield washer fluid and Greg disconnected the battery rather quickly. We could not find a parts store open nearby, and Greg offered to take his car off the trailer so we could put mine on until we got near my place. Thankfully, because of thier quick actions, no damage occured to any other part of the car. When we got into my hometown, Greg and Derrick changed it out with a new one I purchased at the parts store in town.

Thank you.
A BIG, VERY BIG.. ...THANK YOU to these two coolcats, Greg and Derik, for all of thier help. 2 very coolcats, even if they are from Kentucky....:D . More than likely, because of them, my 88' XR7, was saved from some serious damage, and the car is just as it was before the trip, plus a new alternator.

My third CatJam:
This makes two years in a row, with trouble up and back. Hopefully next year will not be eventful until we get to the events we plan on.

It was really great to see everyone, and all thier cars this year. We realy did enjoy our weekend in Youngstown.
I am so glad that we not only have cars that people are keeping to original condition, but are also into customization. The variety, originality, and true to stock, really helps to make this event what it is, as well as the laid back, and freindly attitude of the group as a whole. I think we have some great people in our group, and with a diversity of people it's always a plus too. It's also pretty cool that not only some of us older kids, but some of the younger people are involved as well. It was realy nice to meet new faces, as well as to get re-aquainted with those we have met in previous years. I always feel awkward in gatherings, especialy at first, so having my Lady with me helps quite allot. Gives me something to lean on, since I tend to be a bit nervous in crowds, which is just part of the reason I tend to be a bit sarcastic sometimes. I still have no clue to at least half the names, and who is who on the board. I don't like name tags, so maybe we can come up with something a little different in the future to help each other (especialy me) with our names, sigs, and cars. It can be confusing (who is that big guy that drives that convertible:D ), but also a bit of fun trying to put a car, face, sig, and name all together into one. Hopefully next year, it will be sunny, and we will have at least 2 convertibles at the show next year.
Thank you, thank you, to all of you who did the volunteer work at the show:  Thanks a bunch. It IS very much appreciated. Of course, a special thank you to what's his name......oh yeah, Eric (Mr. Coolcat), and his family. You guys are AWESOME! I am looking forward to seeing all the great cars, and seeing all the cool people again next year.

PS:
I was also pleased that people liked the Liscence frames, so, I plan on having them next year with a couple changes I'm sure many of you will like.

WOW Victor, I had no idea you had the trouble you did on the way up...and I am certainly glad you guys were all traveling together on the way home.
I love how this entire group is like an extended family, and all try to take care of each other when needed.
I've heard it said that you can't make 'real friends' on the internet...I think this group proves that theory wrong, as I believe we all have some true friends here.

I'm proud to be part of such a great group of people.
