i jus wanted to see if i can use a set or bbk 1-5/8" full-length headers on my 88 xr7 cougar

you can, but it would be best to use 1 1/2 if you can.

thank you. the headers are for a mustang but because its the same engine i figured they would fit. could i use a catback for a mustang

yes, but its going to have to be lengthened. the h pipe will bolt up. and the cat back will be fine, but to join the 2 you need some extra pipe.

1 5/8" primaries are fine for a 5.0.  But if you want to use those headers you'll need to swap in a 5-speed...they don't clear the auto trans...well...a C4 will work too.

i assume it is more the brand the size of the pipes. Stock mustang headers fit with some leverage(a big hammer).

Mine bolted right in no problem. I think that the only time you run into trouble is if the motor mounts are going bad and the engine has sunk down a little.
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

i found a set of bbk headers in jegs and i really want them because i cant find anything for a cougar only mustang parts will show up.
