Finally cleaned the engine bay. Reply #1 – May 21, 2006, 11:12:47 AM hey Shawn, I need some info on how to hook up a BOV and did you have to do away with your A/C to put in your intake tubes? I'll snap a pic of what I have. still no BOV :( Quote Selected
Finally cleaned the engine bay. Reply #2 – May 21, 2006, 11:25:33 AM I did away with my A/C a long time ago, basically the weekend after I swapped the hybrid in. I really cant answer your question about the A/C clearance because of that, but i imagine you could do an intake with the A/C in place. As for the blow off, its simple, hardest part being drilling the intercooler. I have a spare intercooler i need to drill for an actual 1" barb, i have a 1/2" barb on it now. Plumb in the blow off valve, and run a vaspoogee line to it.]Ill hop on MSN Quote Selected

Finally cleaned the engine bay. Reply #4 – May 21, 2006, 02:17:52 PM Good job dude, looks very nice. I like the shiny new parts too. Is the BOV like a different type of wastegate? And why does it need to be connected to the intercooler? Sorry I don't know a whole ton about turbos. Quote Selected

Is the BOV like a different type of wastegate? And why does it need to be connected to the intercooler? Sorry I don't know a whole ton about turbos. Not quite. They kinda have the same function, just on different ends of the turbo. The wastegate diverts exhaust gas away from the turbine to limit the amount of boost you make. Without a wastegate you can build boost until your engine pops. A BOV diverts boost away (into the atmosphere... the whoosh!) from the compressor to prevent damage to compressor wheel and keep the turbo spooled between shifts. A BPV (bypass valve) does the same thing only it diverts gas back into the intake system (no whoosh).BTW, that engine is purdy clean. I feel ashamed of mine now. :( Quote Selected

It used to be nothing but the slow ricers, and now they leave me alone.Call it rice all youd like, it serves its purpose. Keeps the turbo spooled, and attracts attention ;) Quote Selected
