Wrong Brakes? March 22, 2006, 03:24:16 PM Ok, here is my problem. I'm replacing the factory front brake lines on my '87 XR-7, but every parts store I've been too, keep giving me the wrong line. They are identical in every aspect except the repros have an inverted flare as the correct factory lines have a bubbled flare. How is this? I had one guy pull a caliper off of the shelf to match it and it showed it was for the bubbled flare also. Maybe a factory error when reproducing them perhaps? Does anyone know of a brand that has the correct flare or maybe a line for a different car that will work? Or will I have to find an adapter of some sort? Please help! Thanks Quote Selected

Wrong Brakes? Reply #2 – March 22, 2006, 06:07:00 PM Well, I tried autozone and they gave me the line with the inverted flare on it, they said that it could have been a late model '87 that used '88 brakes because it came up as different part #s, but they had none in stock. Everywhere else I tried (Napa, O'Reileys, Advance, Fisher) came up with the same parts #s for them and again, wrong flares. I'm clueless, I may just end up buying the ones they have and purchase an adapter for it. Quote Selected

Wrong Brakes? Reply #4 – March 27, 2006, 11:58:20 AM I got it fixed, the line did work. The confusion was because someone I knew, who is ASE certified, saw the line they gave me and told me that it wouldn't work because the flare looked different, as did a salesmen at one of the parts stores. So I spent 3 days trying to find a line that looked identical to the one that I pulled off the car only to give up and just buy the line they kept giving me anyway, which worked perfect. The only difference in the lines were that the new one had a larger opening at the flare than the original and I guess that's what confused everyone. So all of this worry was for nothing really, but thanks to those who responded. Quote Selected
