So I'm at the movies...

...to see V for Vendetta (which is a great movie BTW) and I'm sitting there eating my popcorn and drinking my frozen pen 15e when the previews start. One was the next X-men movie which didn't look to bad, considering I hate Marvel but that's another topic for another day. But anyhoos a few more previews pass and to my horror these words appear on the screen.

The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift.:yuck:

Minus the yuck face of course. :D I cannot believe this series is still going. I liked the first one, but the second one was just... too... blah. This one appears to be about drifting in parking garages and in traffic. =/ Let's just hope the impressionable youth doesn't follow suit. Ok. Needed to get that out. Holla.

I can't help but laugh at rappers. They're so funny. Their names, the way they dress, it's amusing.

this coming weekend I'm taking the wife to watch it, hope it's as good as you guys say...
Wanted to see Final Destination 3, but didn't get to go before they switched it out.
The first Fast & Furious wasn't "too bad", the second one's storyline I thought sucked, and third won't be watched by me, too many "real" cars got tore up in the first 2 movies...Charger, Saleen, the old muscle cars, etc

Oh Jesus, Not again F&F !!!!

The consecuences of a movie like this will become a disaster. Just imagine it; a bunch of stupid kids in the mommy civic trying to do "drifting" in the public streets risking their lives and the security of others. This makes me feel MAD !!!!!

okay, i am about to rant so heres your warning.

Drifting is NOT new, has been around since people started racing cars and it actually very hard to do correctly. Watch WRC, that is drifting. Doing donuts in the wet parking lot with your E-brake is NOT drifting. Just cause your sliding does not mean that you are controlling that slide to keep the cars momentum going through a turn.
The "sport" of driting is starting to grow up a bit, and it starting to incorporate racing elements instead of just sliding a car around. High speed "drifting" of corners and coming out at the right angle is hard to do and fun to watch, but every dork in a civic thinks pulling the e-brake is drifting.
I have seen video of high speed corning using "power slides" or "drifting" and it is exciting and purpuseful and I think this could be a good thing, if they move to high speed sharp corner tarmac tracks, "drifting" could be fun to watch in a racing setting.
this movie on the other hand will probably suck. though I will probably watch it cause it has cars.. and hate it and bitch about it and then my wife will be like, then why are you watching it..
and I will also put down a quarter that is a Initial D ripoff.

*whew*

A bumch of amircan imports. a mustang, and some british cars. Where the hell does the tokyo part fit in other than the location?

As much as others here probably dont enjoy anime i do and your right this movie will probably just be an initial d ripoff. The difference is initial d is intresting.(The last minute and 30 of that trailer makes me think so they are mountain racing looks like a downhill track)

Oh noes they got rid of Paul walker this new guy sounds like Bubba Sparxxx. This movie series has gone far enough and now they are gonna milk it even more? (Not actually saying that Paul Walker could act he was just the right Asshat for the role)

and now that they are actually in Tokyo Why isent Johnny Tran being re introduced?

yah, the "drifting" that initial d is about is the rally style drifting. holding speed through tight corners, and it is interesting. I have enjoyed that show.

And of course it is american imports and british cars, it is made to sell cars and we can't buy any of the high hp rwd/awd puppiesanese cars in the states. I would so drive an R32 or R34 skyline gtr, but they are next to impossible to get here. So you will see rx7's rx8's and mustangs and audi's in that film, cars that you can buy here in the states.
