im thinking about putting some cobra r's on my 88 bird.  the bird is completely stock.  the correct size wheels i need are 17x8's correct?  or is it possible to fit 17x9's on the back?  also, what is the backspacing?  4.95?

i could have sworn i read this info at the coolcats site awhile back but i cant seem to find it now.  anyone know of a good place online where you can get a set of cobra r's and wheels?

17x8s. Dunno the correct backspacing but if they are 4-Lug Cobra R's then they should fit. You didn't say if you had a TC or not. 17x9s may have a prob clearing the quad shocks in the rear but I am not certain of this. It seems as though every car is different... be prepared for the unexpected. My 17x8 rubbed the tailpipe because of py exhaust routing.

The links page on coolcats.net has some wheel vendor links. Then there's also ebay. Then there's http://www.volpaz.com

sorry, these will be put on a 88 tbird lx.  so 17x8's on front and back then?  that is if course if there is no rubbing.

ive been lookin at this afs wheels site.  hes got a bunch of listings on ebay.  its lookin like i will be payin about 1000 for wheels and tires shipped to me.  is that sound about right?  or u think i could get the tires cheaper someplace locally?

okay, does anyone know a place other than afswheels.com where i can get a set of 4 lug 17x8 Cobra R's that are silver.  i dont want polished or chrome.  afswheels seems to be the only place and they want 700 for just the wheels.

what about 17x8.5 wheels?  will those not fit at all or does it just depend on ur specific car?

I have 17x9s front and rear. They'll fit a stock ride height car with no rubbing and 245-45s in the front and 240-75s in the rear. I've lowered my car and have mustang lower control arms and only the wheel itself rubs my control arm at full turn. No tire rubbing issues at all. But if you do get a 17x8 or 17x9 wheel for the front, look into mustang lower control arms as the tires will stick out past your fender lip and the lower control arms will pull them in for a perfect stance. IMHO

* The second picture is the only one I have with the cobra wheels, koni rally sport springs and NO mustang lower control arms. Taken a few years ago.

so i bought a set or so i thought it did of 4 lug 17x8 wheels from a guy over at the corral.net forums and just got them today.  got a few problems.......

3 of them are 17x8 while one is a 17x9.  now maybe it was just a simple mistake but obviously thats nto gonna work.  another thing that i noticed is that on the back of two of the 17x8's, it says 17x8 J+15 while on the other 17x8 it says 17x8 J+30.

okay now obviously this is a really messed up situation and im in the process or working it out with the seller.  my question to u guys is what is the +15 and +30?  i take it deals with the offset.  can i use the two +15's on the front and then use +30 i got and get another from the guy and use those on the back?  or do i need the same size all around?

are the cobra r's from fordracing.com +15 or +30?
