Lock lug trouble Reply #1 – March 10, 2006, 01:26:56 PM There were about 25-30 different Ford factory keys available. The chances of finding one from the boneyard that works is slim. You can take your car to the Ford dealer where they have a master set of lug keys and and tell you what yours is (and also charge an arm and half a leg to loosen yours, if you wish). Anyway, the factory supplier was McGard and they still make sets/locks available in the aftermarket. So, if you get the code #/lock color info from the Ford dealer, call up McGard (http://www.mcgard.com), and relate that info to them, they can sell you the correct key for about $15 shipped. Takes about two weeks. Might want to get another spare one just in case.Short term: if you need them off now and can't wait, air chisel will do it but probably destroy the locking lug. I've heard of people using Vise-Grips too. Quote Selected

Lock lug trouble Reply #3 – March 10, 2006, 02:25:32 PM Also, if you find a deepwell impact socket that you can hammer on tight over the lug, use and impact wrench and she'll come right off. Quote Selected
Lock lug trouble Reply #4 – March 10, 2006, 06:06:18 PM there is also a special impact socket for that. it has a tapered inside with a sort of ribbing pattern in it. you put it over the lug, tap it on good and crank/impact away. it gets tighter as you turn it. it does kind of ruin the lock though.
