Which alternator?

I'm doing a swap '83 V6 T-Bird to a '89 5.0 H.O.  V6 alt won't bolt up and V8 alt has different wiring.  Do I need a '83/'84 V8 alt and bracket, or is there some way to convert to an internal voltage regulator, and use the '89 mounting bracket and alt?  V6 is a 60amp alternator, V8 is 75amp.  Thanks, Fred

You can use the v-8 alternator for the correct year and should have no issues whatsoever.

A better option is to use a 3-G (order one for a '95 5.0 Mustang) and change the wiring - it's a simple change (do a search on this forum for "3G" and you'll find plenty of info) and you end up with a much more powerful alternator (130 amp)
