Replacing lights in cluster

I have the base cluster(digital speedo)and all the lights are out(including speedo)except for battery and fuell guages. Is there any easy way to replace them. I was told to replace the speedo light the whole dash has to come out. Also, the middle horizontal bar in the left number on the speedois out, when I go 88 it reads 00, how do I fix that.

The LCD problem is likely fatal. You can try taking the speedo apart and putting some pressure on the glass to see if the digits show up - if they do, you might be able to shim it so that pressure is on it all the time (I had done this to a few calculators in high school). If they don't, the display or driver is bad.

As for the bulbs - the whole dash doesn't have to come out, but the cluster does. It's about a 10 minute job to remove it - simply remove the bezel and four screw hold it in. If you've got a column shifter you'll have to unclip the PRNDL indicator cable from the column as well.
