5.0 kinda in a TurboCoupe kinda...... December 18, 2005, 10:38:18 PM Ok, I took the complete dash and engine wiring harness out of an 88 5.0 Thunderbird and am going to put it in my 87 Turbo Coupe. Now, so far it looks like everything is plug and play but I am going with the digital cluster so I have to change my fuel sending unit but I have read about the TC fuel pump wiring being different, is this true? And if it is different what do I have to do to make it work?Should I just pull the rest of the 5.0 harness out, like from the doors to the rear? I have alot of time to get it finished but I would just like to get things sorted out before I start. Thanks, Chris Quote Selected

5.0 kinda in a TurboCoupe kinda...... Reply #2 – December 19, 2005, 12:40:39 PM Ok, Thanks. You mean all the wiring as in the whole car? That is something I really didnt want to get into but if I have to do it I have to do it. Thanks, Chris Quote Selected
5.0 kinda in a TurboCoupe kinda...... Reply #3 – December 19, 2005, 09:35:10 PM The fuel pump wiring is big time different, but its not really a problem. For the 5.0 it feeds back to the trunk from a plug on the EEC, and the relay mounts in the trunk ahead of the passenger trunk hinge... Unless you have a big time woodie for the digital cluster, I'd leave the TC dash and cluster in place...There's a big article on 5.0 to TC swap here on the board, do a little searchin.. 5.0 kinda in a TurboCoupe kinda...... Reply #4 – December 19, 2005, 10:58:26 PM Yeah I am wanting the digital cluster.I just pulled the whole 5.0 dash wiring out of it yesterday and already replaced the dash with it. I did search and am still kinda leary on the swap. All I see are 5.0 swaps with a turbo coupe dash, none with the back wiring from a TC and the front from a 5.0.So basically I have a 5.0 dash and engine harness going into a TC. Could you tell me more about the fuel wiring on both? Thanks, Chris Quote Selected

5.0 kinda in a TurboCoupe kinda...... Reply #7 – December 20, 2005, 10:33:27 AM You should get a '88 EVTM to really make sense of all the wiring changes that will be necessary.... Just rippin out all the TC wiring and replacing it with the 5.0 harness is effective, but crude IHO...The fuel pump wiring on the TC is just a single wire run from the IRCM, to the inerita sw then to the pump. On the 5.0 it is a three wire harness that plugs in near the EEC, and runs into the trunk. The pump signal can be tied into the originial circuit at that point... Also the Mass Air EEC monitors the voltage input to the pump, so I used the original wire in the TC to feed this signal back to the EEC...Like I said..... you need the EVTM... Quote Selected
5.0 kinda in a TurboCoupe kinda...... Reply #8 – December 20, 2005, 03:32:15 PM Figured it out.The fuel pump and sender wiring are seperate. The fuel pump comes down the pass side and the sender comes down the drivers side.Took the 5.0 fuel pump wiring out which is a stand alone system on the pass side and it plugs into a plug on the drivers side.So therefore the plug on the drivers side that the fuel pump/sending unit runs into is the same color of wires and the 5.0 and T/C due to the fact they run the same inertia switch and fuel sender wire colors. They even take the same plug on the drivers side and plug in the same.
