Smilies button for Quick Reply

another board i frequent, http://www.paintballforum.com, uses vbulletin like this board does (they have 3.0.1, we have 3.0.3). anyways, on the quick response box, right next to the quote button (on top of the txt box), there's a button to show the smilies. i think it'd be good to have that, cuz this board has a ton of smilies an I don't know the codes for em. floating the cursor over the button, this pops up in the status bar...
javascript:open_smilie_window_pop()

just a suggestion, as i use the quick suggestion a lot and want to use stuff other than :D and :p

compared to

also, they had a "reputation" system in which users who were helpful were given "rep points". it got out of hand because the tons of little kids (basically 98% of the members are 20 or younger) made a big deal when they got negative rep points, so they disabled them

Ahh, on Quick Reply.. missed that part before. Yes, I'd like to be able to see smilies from there as well. Also, the button I highlighted is sort of a mess when you click on it. I chalk up both to being a new board. :D

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO VOTING HERE! I see the option is there already.

I read the Star Wars Galaxies forums from time to time, out of some latent ic drive or something. Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that post-voting is a horrible thing.

1) It gives groups of people (within the larger group that is the forum) the ability to unfairly (attempt to) censor someone they don't like, regardless of the merit of that person's post.
2) It often upsets people that they get zero response to something in words, but might get a low vote.. so you get extra posts complaining about those votes.
3) It's just petty.
4) The other users decide the merits of your posts already, by responding or not responding to them.. an unwritten system that's been working fine for a very long time.

I have access to 3 accounts in SWG, and I actively go into the forums to abuse the voting system with the hopes of pushing it that much closer to being removed there. I absolutely loathe it.

I don't know how to put a button in, but you can still see smilies from the quick reply page. Just look down and left - click on the word "smilies"
