Re: mind if i bounce this off you guys? Reply #1 – November 21, 2004, 09:26:33 PM Have you tried turning the engine by hand? It could be seized...If it's not seized try turning the lights on while you crank. If the lights dim considerably the starter is drawing a lot of juice but may not be able to turn the engine. If the lights don't dim the starter isn't getting any power. Quote Selected

Re: mind if i bounce this off you guys? Reply #3 – November 21, 2004, 10:15:16 PM OK, do the light thing. If the starter is drawing a bunch of power it may be binding - perhaps it's too tight to the flywheel? It also could be binding inside under load - a loose bushing or bent armature could cause that... Quote Selected

Reply #4 – November 22, 2004, 06:31:27 AM Quoteinspected all the power cables and they look fineThat includes the ground cables?Bad ground from engine block to frame and/or battery could restrict power. Try it with a jumper cable from block or starter mounting bolt to battery (-). Quote Selected
Re: mind if i bounce this off you guys? Reply #5 – November 22, 2004, 05:53:57 PM awsome guys thanks...it ended up being a ground. turns out that someone before i bought it must have changed a motor mount and never bolted through the ground. they must have had it tucked away just right because it took at least the 35k miles i put on it to work its way out of where it was. it didnt look like it had been secured in years. i cant belive i never had any glitches or problems with it before. anyway...looks like i spent project money on a starter and battery i didnt need. they were expensive...that me off. i feel better that everything is back to ormal though....
