T/C axle swap e brake help needed!! September 07, 2005, 07:36:29 PM I have installed a 88 disc brake T/C rear in my 88 XR7 and need help with the E brake set up. I bought 3 new cables and have the triangle piece that holds them all together. But I didnt take it apart (junkyard did) and I cant make heads or tails of it. I need some pics if thay are available of the cables, mounting and all the brackets. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. Dan Quote Selected
Re: T/C axle swap e brake help needed!! Reply #1 – September 07, 2005, 08:09:22 PM i think the brackets that mount to the car are all different than the regular tbirds. go back and see if they can get the brackets. i think they are welded on though? it would be good to know for sure because i know i need them myself very soon... Re: T/C axle swap e brake help needed!! Reply #2 – September 08, 2005, 12:13:36 AM I'm using my stock lx setup with mark 7 rear sections. The end of the mark7 cable needed to be modded some by breaking off the little brackets and getting it down to just the ballend, and you have to cut off the end of the spring and unwind the spring out of the cable. Than I cut that spring in half and used it on the other side of the caliper mount to assist the caliper in releasing the tension on the brake pad. On the passenger side you have to make up a 3-4" difference. I did that buy grinding down an allen wrench and using that the connect two of them metel bracket/connector boxes they use to connect the cables.Works great been using this setup for about 2 years now I think..
