engine mounts

has anyone used the mustang convertable engine mounts before?i bought a set from advance autoparts and they look similar (from memory)to the mustang/cougar/tbird mounts ,but seem a little weird to me.i know they suppose to set the engine lower, but the locating pin doesnt seem to be in the right location.any thoughts or experiance with these anyone?

Kenny, joefriday turned me on to the convertable mounts.  I test fitted them and they seemed to line up perfectly on my k-member.  Obviously I have not droped the motor in yet but the locating pins lined up just fine for me. I have the 85 bird though, If I remember correctly yours is an 86.  I will be thundering away on my car all weekend except for the one day for a family thing. I am off Friday-Monday, nice 4 day weekend, so if you want to compare some parts just let me know.  I have the original 85 mounts as well.

If he has a 30th anny car as his user name suggests, it's an 85.

thanks for the info jason.i thought you had told me you had the convertible mounts but i wasnt sure.yeah, mines an 85 also.gotta 5 day weekend myself.i did have plans to do my engine tranny swap this weekend, but it looks like these gas prices($2.95gal)are gonna cause me to have to wait a little while.turns out i wont be able to use my brothers garage here in town cause of a city ordinance.(we would have to push his fairlane hardtop out in to the driveway and its a little on the gutted and stripped side at this time.)would have to use a friends garage in union county(30miles away).i will most definitly try to swing by friday or whatever day is best for you.

Oh yeah, dumb moment there, Im known to have a few of those here and there.  His harness is from an 86, that's where I got that from.

I will definately be working on it Thursday night, and all day and night on Friday.  If you want to swing by you can.  I have that spring for the clutch quadrant if you still need it also.
