Not cougar but Ford related

I still use B.M.W.

Yep.... Bus, Metro & Walk....  :giggle:
Still no car yet...

I'm going to see a Ford Custom 500 (Same as Galaxie 500) 1965 for sale this week and it has a 352 in it...
Does anyone of you have ever heard of 352 engine?

Are these engine similar to 351? what are the differences?
Are these engine great or will a swap for a 351w is a must?
If I need to swap engine, will i have to swap a tranny to?
I will not make an original restoration.... It willbe a custom project... (Pimp my ride style)  ;)  :D

The 352 and the 351 share nothing. They are completely different animals. For ease of maintenance and parts,I'd install a newer small block, like the 5.0 or 5.8.You would need to swap the tranny also.Take the drivetrain from your Cougar, put a carb on it (although you could go fuel injection with some extra work),install the 5.0 and AOD.You can get a TV cable (kickdown cable) from different places to work with a carb. You'll have to find the motor mounts (I'm sure those came with a 289 lo po at one point),and the driveshast, exhaust, tranny crossmember. It wouldn't be that hard at all. It's been done a thousand times.Good luck.

The 352 has some major potential. Its the smallest of the FE family. 352, 360, 390, 410, 427, 428. That would make one slick sleeper.

The 352 is a total dog.  My first car was a '65 Galaxie 500 LTD with that motor.  FE parts are expensive and the 352 is NOT the motor to make fast. 390, sure...but even then you can do more for less $$$ with a 351.

Pass. :)

All I was saying was the car is setup for an FE keep the FE. You will spend more time and money triying to find the parts to make the 351 fit that you would finding a 390 or larger FE.

Hell in the local paper there are like 3 guys giving away FE parts and engines.

Wrong answer....  The '58-'59 332 was the smallest FE, also you forgot the '62-'63 406... :D

Stock the 352s are dogs... That said, the pre '66 FEs all had fairly decent heads(actually they are similar to 427 low risers, just have smaller valves). Just add a set of headers, Edelbrock Preformer intake, 600 CFM carb and a little cam it will run as good as most 351s out there.

So if its in good shape it would be cheaper to modify the 352, cause if you swap to a 351 you'll have to get the transmision as well.

Hey I was close. :grinno:
I wasn't even born yet when either one of those came out. They came out 22 years before I was born. :D

hey Sly,i got a used edelbrock performer and a set of mickey thompson finned aluminum valve covers that i would let go for $100.00 plus shipping.those factory fe intakes must weigh 60 to 80 pounds.there are a lot of little tricks to do with the fe that wouldnt be that hard to do.junkyard parts are just a truck away.as far as a cam goes, get one with a lot of lift.those fe's like to breathe.
