new section

anyone else think it would be a good idea to have a section and some kind of rule about joining to post one thing for sale?  i like the idea that they want to sell to us first because we will take care of the car though. maybe when you sign up have a option offered if your just selling a car hear and not going to post like a temp membership? then again, i dont see a member count hear like the old board, but i figured it would help keep the numbers true instead of a couple thousand off like the last board  :giggle:

A guest sales section maybe?  Sounds like danger.  We won't get as many people also because you have to register specifically for this board, eZboard was a larger community with thousands of preexisting members.

I'm sure the admin account can go in there still and remove accounts with below a certain number of posts or inactiviity for a certain period. On an old board years ago, they used to go through every couple months and delete anyone with 0 or sometimes 1 post, clearing out thousands of users who didn't contribute

Really? So you haven't clicked the Members List link up at the top, and "hovered" your mouse over the "Last>>" link in the page list on the right side?
Or do you mean a count that's always on-screen, right or wrong?

i ment a count that's always visible on-screen. i just didnt like that people kept signing up and posting once to sell something (usualy the thing that made them apairt of the community) and that was  it. o well, its not a big deal now i know we have around 200 active members instead of 2000+ mystery members :p

I imagine twiice a year or so I'll purge inactive accounts. In the admin control panel you can purge accounts with less than a certain number of posts, or accounts that have been inactive for a given amount of time, or a combination of those factors (such as an account with less than 10 posts that has been inactive for three months or more).

Nate, on the main page near the bottom are user stats. This includes how many members are online as well as how many members there are in total:
