Power steering pumps

I got that new 3.8 awhile ago and I was supposed to get everything with it, pumps and everything.  It seems the guy didn't include the power steering pump and it is different from my original, mounts where the a/c compressor is on mine.  I need to pick up a new one anyway since the old was in pretty sad shape.  On the sites I've looked at, there is a handling suspension package that seems to fit tbirds and cougars.  Mustangs had that as an option.  I'm pretty sure the car it came from (84 stang) didn't have that package since the pump is significantly different.  I'd rather not reuse my old one because I'd have to change the mounting position and use my old a/c compressor which doesn't work.  Will the pump without the handling option work on my car?  Is there a significant difference?

I've been trying to separate the 253 questions you asked.
I think I'll go with:

Will the pump without the handling option work on my car?
I have a base V8 Bird.
It came with the "non-handling" 20:1 steering rack and pump.
I replaced the rack with a Motorsport 15:1, and kept the original pump.
It's been doing just fine for 3 1/2 years.

So a non-performance pump should work whether or not I have the handling option on my car.  That was the question I was trying to get at.  I can be really wordy at times  :shoothead
