Re: Anyone completed a 4R70W trans swap? Reply #2 – October 27, 2019, 08:43:16 AM So I ended up picking up a 2002 Mustang Automatic shifter and fitting it into my floor and console. Was a bunch of work on the console cover but at least I will have the proper shift pattern. Quote Selected

Re: Anyone completed a 4R70W trans swap? Reply #4 – November 03, 2019, 08:22:43 AM I will do pics for sure. I am noticing that the shifter from the 2002 Mustang does not fit the trans tunnel very well. I am thinking I may have to go to the yard and get a piece of the trans tunnel from a 99-04 Mustang and fit it to the Thunderbird. I will keep you posted. Quote Selected

Re: Anyone completed a 4R70W trans swap? Reply #6 – November 15, 2019, 06:58:32 AM I will get pics because I have to get that tunnel from a 99-04 Mustang and make it graft onto the Thunderbird floor. I like to make stock parts work in my car more than using aftermarket stuff. I will keep you posted because I have the quick 4 controller with wire harness that I have to install in the car too. From what I have read that this controller is the cats ass. I have to say that I do own a coyote powered F-150 and it has a 10r80 10 speed automatic. That trans is awesome. Too bad there was not a way to adapt the 6R80 trans behind the 351W. Quote Selected

I'd do that if it wasn't so expensive. Probably about $3K+ to stick a 6R80 in my car betwen the adapter plate, controler, and transmission. If I had the coin sitting around I'd do it in a heartbeat.
