interesting automotive TRICK!!!!!!!!! What do you think happened.???? August 05, 2018, 11:22:50 AM i am putting in my tail pipes for a new exhaust on a resto project using 2 1/2'' tubing.i cant get the tail pipe over the axle on the passenger side because of two reasons,, the car is too low and the rear pass shock is in the way.I remove the lower pass shock bolt, pull the shock out of the bracket and let it hang.i put my floor jack under the car just forward of the rear tire on the pass side, there is a flat spot there for such purposes.i jacked up on the the passenger side and what do you think happened without a passenger shock attached????????????? interesting automotive TRICK!!!!!!!!! What do you think happened.???? Reply #2 – August 05, 2018, 04:54:14 PM I had a car with totally blown shocks in the rear. When I jacked it up, the rear suspension would bind and the whole rear end would pop and move a bit. Took me a while to figure out why it would just randomly turn sharp on bumps. Quote Selected

interesting automotive TRICK!!!!!!!!! What do you think happened.???? Reply #6 – August 10, 2018, 03:35:03 PM That is pretty wild. Surprised the car didn't just lean to the opposite side while you raised it. Quote Selected
interesting automotive TRICK!!!!!!!!! What do you think happened.???? Reply #7 – August 25, 2018, 08:48:15 AM nope,, i jacked up the rear pass side of the car and the rear driver tire lifted off the ground.think of it like this...you remove the lower shock retainer bolt on the pass side.you jack up the rear pass side by using the flat pad area.your rear pass spring now "can always push downward".so......... you jack up the rear pass side without a shock and this tire will always be on the ground because the spring is expanding "downward".since the rear driver side is still trapped by its lower shock retainer bolt, it has no choice but to "go up",, so even though you are jacking up the rear pass side, the rear driver side is the one that comes off the ground.this has to be useful information, , at least for making bets and such,, "bet i can get the rear driver tire off the ground by jacking up the rear pass side" Quote Selected
