sn95 front brakes with rear drums

Will I be ok with running sn95 front brakes with 10" drums in the back? The car is going to be getting a suspension and brake rebuild before she goes off to have the body damage banged out.

Yeah, I had mine like that. I even used the '03 and up dual piston PBR calipers on the stock master/booster with no ill effects.

Did you ever get some 5 lug wheels? Glad to see you're keeping at it, too :)

Let me know if there's any other bits you need. I have a set of 16" 5 lugs that I took from an LSC a few years ago, need tires of course but the rims are good, need blasted and painted/finished or whatnot.

Thanks, man. She's still with me, but she's been sitting in my yard since it happened I'm finally getting enough cash to rebuild her. I'm planning on a complete suspension rebuild. Do you still have the sn95 parts? How much do you want for the wheels and other sn95 stuff?

The calipers and other stuff got used on my Mustang, but the wheels are yours for 50 bucks. They ain't goin' anywhere, so whenever you're ready...

I could probably find some SN95 stuff in the JY, no idea when I'd be able to go, my buddy Steve lives in the KC metro area and would be up for a trip with me to go huntin' for parts. I need to source a T-case to convert my V8 explorer to true 4wd instead of AWD, and I want to do it before summer, so....won't be long, maybe in a few weeks.

I do have a spare big (think off of a TurboCoupe) swaybar I'd just give to ya, I got three of the ed things LOL.

The springs that were on my 'Bird I still have..if you're interested in those too.

Awesome, which springs are they? I'll grab the wheels and sway bar off of you and if you can source some 94/95 sn95 spindles for me that'd be greatly appreciated. btw what brake lines do I need to make this swap work?

Typically you can get the 96+ spindles on there for $35 a pair.  You can find the 94-95 spindles but they will be more so you just have to check every week or so.  Most yards will ship across the country so don't limit your search to just your area.

Thanks, man. Do you know what fittings I need to use the MM brake lines that adapt sn95 calipers to a mustang?

Some need this adapter and some don’t. Typically you can get it at local parts stores but you better find a couple of them prior to starting the swap so if you need them you have them and if you don’t just take them back.

I did some research on a few of the parts store websites and the adapter is not necessary for our cars.  This is what I found out:

79-86 Mustangs - Hard lines have either 3/8 or 7/16 male fitting depending on model
87-93 Mustangs - Hard lines have 7/16 male fitting
94-98 Mustangs - Driver hard line has 7/16 male fitting and passenger has 3/8 male fitting

So the adapter is needed on the 87-93 Mustangs but only on the passenger side to use a 94-98 Mustang passenger hose.  The aftermarket got wise of this and came up with Fox to SN95 specific hoses which are driver/passenger specific due to the hard line male fitting issue.  Thing is this only applies to the 87-88 Turbo Coupe as they are the only ones with hard lines that have 7/16 male fittings.

83-88 Thunderbird - Hard lines have 3/8 male fitting
87-88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe - Hard line have 7/16 male fitting

So from this if you are going to get SS braided lines you will need to buy them for the 87-93 Mustang if you have an 87-88 TC or get them for the 79-81 Mustang if you have a non-TC 83-88 Thunderbird.

The confusing thing is MM says the 79-81 Mustangs with 4 cylinders have the 3/8 all other 79-93 Mustangs have the 7/16.  Doesn't line up with the parts stores but I would be more inclined to believe MM over the parts stores.  So with that being said, you really need to verify whether or not you have the 3/8 or 7/16 male fittings on your hard lines before you order SS braided lines.

I have the Russell SS braided lines on my '83 and bought their kit for a 79-86 Mustang.  I still have the rear line in the tool box as I have the 87-93 Mustang or 87-88 TC brake line setup on the car so I had to use the SS braided kit for the rear of an 87-93 Mustang with SN95 calipers.  I did all of this before MM started making the 79-81 to SN95 front kits.
