Well got us a new daily driver

Since we bought our 2012 Mustang it's been an April-November car only, to keep it out of the salt. My wife loves the thing just about as much as I love the Thunderbird so she plans on keeping indefinitely. Being that as such she needs a winter/foul weather driver. I used to work close to home so we managed easily in the winter with the Focus. I got a promotion this year which necessitates me driving 8 miles to work every day. This put us in a bind for a car for her. Well we fixed that problem yesterday:

2017 Honda Accord EX-L V6. We looked at a 2017 Fusion Sport. It was faster than the Accord but couldn't justify it because of the horrible gas mileage (17 city) and the fact that you have to run 93 octane in the Sport to get full power. The Accord is only .5 second slower to 60 mph (6.2 vs 5.6 for the Sport) but it's still plenty fast enough to stomp most cars on the road. Plus it's fun to drive. My parent's have had a string of Accords before switching to Fusions and they've had no trouble with them. Plus the Accord is blue, so it fits with the Focus and Mustang. The Thunderbird is the only non-blue car we own :hick:.

Friend's mom has one. Loves it. He says it definitely moves out.

The only thing I can say about Honda right now is I hate hate HATE the engine management in my mom's CR-V. Sometimes you have to two-foot it, you just do. And that car won't let you. It kills throttle if you're even touching the brake. My brother's '13 Rav-4 doesn't do that, so I'm assuming not-everyone does that necessarily now.

Is that a CVT? I can't exactly say I hate *that* in my mom's car. It's responsive and it does what it's supposed to do.

No CVT. 3.5 liter, 278hp, V6 with a 6 speed automatic. 0-60 in 6.1 seconds :). If you floor it from a stop in "Sport Mode" it will spin the front tires and bark the 1-2 upshift. Pretty impressive for a FWD car. Virtually no torque steer either. I have to say it's fun to drive, especially since it's only about .5 seconds slower to 60 than either the Thunderbird or Mustang. It doesn't have that visceral, brutal, feeling the Mustang or especially the Thunderbird has when you push the loud pedal to the floor. Still nothing quite like RWD with over 300hp....

Now THAT's impressive - the WOT shift. It actually barks the tires. Good to see that transmissions are finally being truly set up properly from the factory for maximum enjoyment and longevity :)
