New paint... change color or keep it the original

I have an 87 T-Bird Turbo with 63,000 original miles. Every thing on this car is factory with all the options. It needs new paint and a couple dings fixed. The car is burgundy on red. I would like to keep it original or at least I would like to. I just wonder if changing the color would effect the value seeings how the color wouldn't be original. I know there is a lot of cost to changing the color, but we have 4 vehicles that are red in color. The car has everything I wanted in the turbo, except for the automatic and the paint. As for a change in color it would have to go with the red interior. The only choices I can think of are white or black.

WisBird, with 63,000 original miles I would  keep the original color. If it had higher mileage and had any mods by previous owners that may sway me to change the color. Will this be a daily driver or weekend good weather car? In the end its your car and you can add/change things to suit you. Also since you have a TC you may want to check on NATO( TC specific site) . A lot of info from those guys on your car. Good luck with it . , Ray.

Ray,  I am thinking the same thing about keeping the original color. This car is waiting on collector plates, and will only be driven in nice weather. In Wisconsin we only get a few good months of nice weather. I want to keep the miles low. I would really like a 5 speed, but then that changes it from original. Maybe I need to look for a high mileage turbo to tune.....My wife would just love that..lol

I know you posted it has a few dings, but is the paint actually bad?  Would the dents/dings be able to be removed by a paintless dent removal person?  Maybe have a professional detailer work some magic on it after?

The dings are on the curve of the rear fender. It also looks like someone got hot on the buffer and scorched the clear-coat.
