Mag wheels

Hey guys I'm looking to buy a set of new wheels for my 86 Cougar, thought I'd go with some alloys. Shopping online for these is challenging since I'm not familiar with the correct size I should purchase.  Anyone know what size OE wheel my car has on it?  1986 Mercury Cougar with a 3.8L V-6 engine.  Would the size be stamped on the old steel wheels?

Look for wheels made for a Fox Body Mustang. Lot's of styles available. I got mine from OE Wheels as a wheel and tire package from Ebay. Cheaper than anywhere else I could find. The tires came mounted, balanced, and aired up. Also had caps and lug nuts. Many styles, and the price range varies a lot.

Look up tire size calculators. You want a 26" tall tire. A 225/60r15 is a stock 87gt sized tire on ten holes and would be an excellent tire to compare sizes too. I believe the stock tire size would be 215\70r14 or there about.

Vinnie hit it on the head though. Any fox mustang (87-93 specifically) sized tire/rim combo will work well. A 26" tire size would keep the speedo accurate. I have 275/60's on the rear of my 86 and they rub slightly, so stay smaller then that size. A 235/60r15 is what I was running upfront and is a very common sized tire.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I forgot isn't there an issue with calipers on certain wheels?
