need help on brakes

Hi everyone I swap out rear axle in my 88 TC I used all parts from my other TC except brake lines my problems is when I went to bleed brakes the brake pedal was hard and never got spongy or went to floor when I broke bleeder valve and no fluid came out so I broke line loose going to block on rear axle still no fluid even with someone holding pedal down I check fluid in reservoir and it was full. So I drove car up street and brake was hard to push pasted a certain spot once I reached that spot I really had to push hard just to make car stop. Most time when I've broke a line loose u have to bleed to get air out but I have no pressure in lines most time pedal is spongy if don't bleed not hard. I was driving car last week and everything was fine I took axle Friday and put other one in Sat and this is what happened to brakes. Any suggestion? This is a daily driver and car has had good brakes maybe there's something I did wrong that I didn't know about thanks

Are the red brake & amber ABS lights on??? If so the pump in master cylinder assembly probably isn't running... Usually due to defective relay on firewall near clutch master cylinder...

The Teves II ABS your car has is expensive to fix. If the pump is gone you'll have to replace the whole unit (unless you can find a used pump). A rebuilt unit is about $900. A used working one is cheaper. If you can find it. You may want to look into converting over to regular power assist brakes. Non Turbo Coupe Thunderbirds area  good source for parts to do this.
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

I'd be willing to bet most of the Teves units were replaced because of bad relay, open fuse link or a defective acspoogeulator that caused short cycling(easy to replace), than were actually defective... Only other one I've seen that was defective had a stuck pump motor from setting up, a slight turn of shaft and it ran fine after that...

Would that explain why I had good brakes b4 I took rear axle out or is there something special I have to do because of abs I talked to a guy who is a mechanic by day and work at autozone at nite and he said some abs cars have to b put on computer to bleed brakes and abs is that a option or would that b on newer cars ive never delt with 4wheel abs

You really need to vacuum bleed the calipers to get the air out... This system is stand alone and not integrated into the vehicles computer system as are the later vehicles...

There is a FAQ over on NATO that you should follow to troubleshoot, the Teves system is too complex to do much more than just throw parts at it if you don't know what you're doing...

I have no idea why it stopped operating when changing the rear, go ahead and swap relays as that's the most common issue the system has... A momentary short could have blown a fuse link, also a defective ign switch will cause brakes not to work(supplies three different power sources)...
