215/75r14 vs 215/70r14 January 24, 2015, 03:04:00 AM My 85 has the optional 14" aluminum wheels. According to the factory dealer brochure I have, the optional tires were 215/70r14. I noticed that mine are 215/75r14. I was wondering what the effects of the larger aspect ratio of the tires have on my car? Just a thought. Quote Selected

Just a thought. You will require approximately 25 fewer tire revolutions per mile with the 75 series versus the 70 series considering all else is equal. A little more rough estimate is that it's about a three percent savings in recorded mileage. So you may have actually traveled 100000 miles but your odometer reads 97000. Obviously there may be other factors that could affect the accuracy of your odometer versus actual distance traveled. If it were calibrated for the 75 series and you had 70 series, your odometer would read more than actual miles covered. I suppose perhaps you lose 3 percent of torque with the taller tire maybe?
