1983 cougar, 23k $18000!

Interesting car, vent windows, manual doors locks and seats, but power mirrors, with vent windows. Apparently the "last year" of the ultra rare xr7 with what looks like a 3.8. :hick:

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

He might get $18k. In 1983 when it was new on the lot. Actually no. It cost less than that new.

More like $1800, and yes, that's the V6, and being an 83, it's carbureted.

Yeah, that price is a little far fetched to say the least and the ad conveys that the writer of it has NO clue about these cars.  That being said I have noticed a sharp increase in prices of vehicles from the mid 1970's to the late 1980's over the past year and a half.....

Asking price, selling price or both?  I've noticed the asking prices have definitely spiked, but wondered if you had access to some better info than I have about the selling prices?

I can still pick up a cherry 76 Oldsmobile 98 (last of the barges) for $5k all day long. The prices on late 70s-80s cars are still pretty cheap.

This year on CL I saw so many stupid asking prices for all kinds of vehicles.
People seem to think we all jumped in a DeLorean and went back to 2006, I guess. Or every one of them thinks THEY'LL be the one to find the sucker. Good luck with that on your painfully local CL page.
They sit and sit and sit and sit and there's no change in price. If you don't really want to get rid of it, take the  ad down and free up space for people that want to move their items.

2.5" Duals, no cats, Flowmaster 40s, Richmond 3.73s w/ Trac-Lok, maxed out Baumann shift kit, 3000 RPM Dirty Dog non-lock TC
Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...

I've seen a 1978 Olds 98 go for over 8K....  I paid $800 for mine when I started driving.  You could pick up just about any mid '70's GM car in decent condition with 80-100K on the odometer for under 2K back in the '90's......  I saw an 88 T-bird with just under 100K for $600 a few years ago.  I'm STILL pissed I didn't grab that car on the spot.  Went back a couple of days later and it was gone.  Sport model V8, Regatta Blue, rust free, dark blue cloth interior.  Finding that car today it would most likely fetch over $4K easily.
