Coolant sensors - gotta love redundancy

As I'm rebuilding my 1988 5.0, I am going through and replacing all the sensors, belts, hoses, clamps, etc.

There are three coolant sensors that I have located

Since I have the Auto temp control and digital dash, I count three sensors:

1 - Standard temp sensor in mntake manifold
1 - EEC Sensor in Coolant Hard Line
1 - Cold Engine Lockout Switch between the hard line and the heater core (unavailable as far as I can tell)?

Did I miss any?  Does anyone have a source for a new CELO switch?  I'm pedantic that if I know it can be replaced now, while it's apart, I want to do it.

I'm in software, and working on this car is trip down memory lane.  I assume that the reason for each sensor is simply because each control unit was self-contained and there was no network.

Thanks -

Geoff

That's what I found, too.  I have three of them from parts cars, so I guess I'll clean one of those.

If you're willing to sell one, let me know.  I could always use a spare just in case.  None of the yards in this area keep cars older than about 15 years old.....

No dice man.  I tried removing the one off mt TC parts car, and the brass cracked.  Literally cracked as I turned it.  Never had brass do that before - perhaps some strange reaction with the potmetal T that it was in.

In retrospect, I should have just cut the T off and sent you the whole thing.

Sorry man.  I thought I was going to be able to hook you up.

your intake sensor should not be "standard"

the standard intake coolant temp sw is single wire. which with a ground ref is a simple thermistor
yours should be more than one conductor on the intake with a "FULL DIGITAL DASH ONLY"

1- in the forward driver intake for the temp gauge
1- in water pump bypass hard line for eec
1- in the heater core T for the climate control so, supposedly prevents your climate control from coming on until "some" heat is present in the heater core supply.

There is no redundancy at all in any of the sub assemblies
There are no things like Modbus, Canbus ect going on here with respect to a data link type communications channel.  ITs all old tech and hard to break.

OLD TECH FTW!
