Are you talking about an Explorer intake.? And, are you talking about the spacer between the upper intake and throttle body? If so, yes, you can use the stock style throttle body spacer.

Don't use the curved inlet adapter.  Tear it off, throw it in the corner and use a 65mm (aftermarket if nec.) HO style EGR cooler plate and the Explorer 65mm TB (requires modification to attach to the throttle cables or you can use an aftermarket 65mm TB)

Do you have the Explorer throttle body? If so, you can use your stock throttle body for the lever you need and adapt the Explorer 65mm throttle body to Fox Body use. IF you use it, you may want to grab a 65mm spacer for the throttle body as well so all the air can get into the intake efficiently.

As far as that spacer, yes, use it. Once you pull the Explorer stuff off, re-assemble it just as if you were putting the stocker back on. One thing, though.....You may have to get a wee bit creative on the vacuum, lines, bit it's not a big deal to figure out.

But if you DO use the elbow, your inlet tube won't fit, and your cables may not reach, and your EGR system will have to be deleted (or heavily modified if you live in a sniff state).

I'm working on the same swap myself. Another issue is with the IAT sensor. Our cars have it installed in the #5 intake runner and the hole is not there on the GT40 intake. If the intake has the boss there you can just have it drilled. You can also just leave it laying in the injector valley. I relocated mine to the airbox, but its not really a big deal. All it does is pull back the timing when the air charge gets too hot...

Just drill and tap a hole in the number 5 runner. takes 10 minutes.

Do it the correct way. The computer is expecting the reading to come from a specific location. Moving it without a tune can cause issues.

All the gt40 intakes I have seen have the boss even if it's not been drilled.  I would drill it.  The stock ford computer programming is counting on that location,  not saying it won't work else where.
