Re: where is the factory amp... Reply #16 – April 02, 2005, 05:19:46 PM About the premium sound option. I got a 1984 thunderbird 5.0 elan edition. You guys say thay premium sound comes with speakers in the doors. From what I can tell my bird does not have those, but there is a switch underneath the radio that say premium sound on/off. Were there different versions of the ford sound setup? Quote Selected
Re: where is the factory amp... Reply #17 – April 03, 2005, 04:27:10 PM TapesterAccording to the '84 EVTSM premium sound does have door speakers. There are two variations. Conventional radio where the extra amplifier drives all six speakers. Electronic radio where the extra amplifier drives the front four speakers, IP and Doors, and the radio drives the rear speakers. The switch puts the amplifier in "Boost Mode". Quote Selected
Re: where is the factory amp... Reply #18 – April 04, 2005, 09:28:31 PM looked in the maroon car, it has the extra plugs, the white one doesn't...oh well, when I get to adding a serious setup, I'm gonna run my own wiring, as I mentioned before. :hick: Quote Selected

where is the factory amp... Reply #21 – August 16, 2014, 07:48:05 PM There should be plenty of info on this section of the forum. Just open the Audio section and change the date range under thread display options to "beginning" I posted some pics from my 88 when I had it out on this thread but there is a lot more info. http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?35331-re-installing-factory-radio-without-original-connectorsI stayed factory after working on my system and adding an mp3 connection but I may want to upgrade later as the sound still isn't what I want. It seems pretty simple to do so, just order the conector with your head unit. Quote Selected
