Carlisle 2014 Ford Nationals

Anyone going this year?

I traditionally take that week off for vacation.  The last time I went was 2011 as conflicting things came up the past 2 years.
Just found out yesterday this won't be the case (the conflicts were events for the kids which are on a DIFFERENT weekend this year) so I booked the hotel and paid the registration!

I'm debating putting in for the indoor section and going a day early....

Hey,Kitz Kat! I live to the North of you and was just wondering...do you mean the I-81 exit they tell you to use for the fairgrounds? It puts you onto rt.11 into Carlisle? Here's a little timesaver we use. Drive past that exit and remember the letter "H" look for the "H"elocopter, get off on the "H"igh st. exit (go right at the stop sign) drive past all the strip malls to "H"anover st. and don't make any more turns 'till you see the "H"ess gas station. That's the dreaded intersection you sit at for an hour when you are leaving the show. When you are leaving, turn right at that light and you will see plenty of signs to get you back on I-81 at the High st. exit. Carlisle doesn't want the show traffic driving through the residential areas I guess, therefore the signs telling you to use rt.11. You can save so much time when 11 is backed up! Even when the traffic doesn't appear bad I go through to High st. Just a little info...

I'll be there! The Cougar will be done in a day or two, and then I have to work on the interior. Even if the interior isn't done by June, I'm going!

I know that way, But everything was great till I committed to the other way. I've been going for years and that was the worst it was. By the way yeh I ment 81.

Another route which will reduce traffic greatly is coming in to Carlisle the back way. From I81 South take the Mechanicsburg (Rt 114) Exit. At the light turn right onto Rt 114 and follow to Wertzville Rd (Rt 944.) Make a left onto Wertzville Rd (Rt 944) and follow the Rt 944 signs until you come to Spring Rd (Rt 34). Make a left onto Spring Rd and follow until you come to the Fairgrounds. I take this route to every car show I attend at the Fairgrounds. It reduces the traffic you encounter greatly even during the Spring and Fall shows which have alot of traffic. I attend the Ford show every year as I only live 20-25 minutes away. Hope this helps.

I want to go to this someday...I've never went because its always the same time as Power Tour.  I can't do either this year as my wife is expecting our 2nd baby around the same time.  I figure if I want to stay out of the doghouse, I better lay low on the car stuff this summer!

Im hoping to go this year..depending on how reliable my TC is acting. I drove it last year praying it would make it since I bought it for $500 not long before and had a pretty bad oil leak. I went up with a buddy and he drove his 88 TC and we made it there and back okay. Its a regular tradition for a bunch of my buddies and as long as I have the extra money to burn for (gas, hotel, food, and admission). I always got worried about bringing money for parts but to be honest I almost never see anything for a TC except for the one guy who brings in a few parts. I bought a used BBK AFPR which ended being no good so unless its a body or interior part im pretty wary.

If you can make it go..its a great time and its nice to BS with other people who share your interest and also get ideas for future mods. My trip is like 4 to 5 hours usually and its gonna feel much longer if i dont get a set of tail pipes lol.

I want to go one of these years. Problem is with a wedding in September I can't afford to go on vacation till my honeymoon. Too bad Carlisle wasn't after I got married. I could go there on my honeymoon. I'm sure my soon to be wife would love a road trip to Pennsylvania instead of a trip to Hawaii. Sure Hawaii is tropical and all but don't old FoMoCo cars beat that?
