87-88 TC's w/ A4LD

This may be a dumb question, but if the HP stayed the same as non-intercooled ones, what was the point of Ford putting an inter cooler on them?
Current: 1986 Thunderbird, 105k 3.8/C5, 2 tone  Midnight Wine/Medium Taupe, wing windows, wire wheel covers.


Former: 1985 Cougar GS 115k Oxford White/Regatta Blue, 5.0, full console, 14" 8 hole aluminum T-Bird rims, Edelbrock valve covers.

to keep the auto alive. they are notoriously week, even behind n/a 2.3 motors.did you watch the first season of American top gear where rutledge tried a neutral drop and blew up the trans?

not the supercharged v6 aod's,, i missed my chance to score one just last week for my youngest son's build im getting ready to do.
