weird problem need help

Pretty much every Ford from 1980 to the early 00's probably need a new ign switch. I'm sure there's more complete and exact info, but my '92 F series truck had to have one, as did an '89 F truck I drove for a couple of years, one of my Thunderbirds had already had the work done via a recall order, the '89 Mustang needed a new one, it fell apart in my hands, and was the reason i got it so cheap, as the PO owner thought the fuel pump was out, as it would start, but as soon as you let the key turn back to run it would cut out.
My Escort GT also had to have one way back in 1996.
From what I read online basically over time, the copper terminals inside will wear, causing flakes and debris...these will eventually cause a contact and short out, thus causing fires. Several people lost homes due to garaged cars shorting out at the ign switch and burning.
If you're even slightly in doubt, have it replaced by someone that knows what they're doing. To fix it properly, wiring needs to be soldered.
