heater controls not working
Ok guys my 88 thunderbird has the climate control but it doesn't work, well everything works on the selector itself (defrost, floor, and panel all work when selected) but the fan will not switch from high to low and toggle has to stay on. When I got the car the previous owner said whoever had it before him straight wired the blower fan, it has a toggle switch for high only. When you run it for longer than a few mins the negative wire starts getting hot so i obviously only run it to defrost my window but i recently just got a new to me daily driver so its not a urgent use for it to be working but its a petty thing that id prefer to have opperating. On to my conclusions from today i got under the dash on the passenger side and following the black and orange wire that goes to the blower itself it has a plug down towards the bottom of the dash or mine was, the black wire is cut as it comes out of the plug and up to the blower has been cut and that is the hot wire from the toggle switch so I removed the black wire on the blower side and connected it to the black wire on the plug and turned the switch all the way foward to try it and nothing you could hear the heater making noises as if it were switching between panel to floor and so on but then stopped and didn't blow any air on high or low setting. I then removed the heater controls themselves and everything is plugged up tight now seen cut wires big orange goes in the plug as it should and other wire goes where it should. I plugged the toggle wire back up and it worked like it did before. Any help is very much appreciated.
